ABOUT RHINOS
At the beginning of the 20th century, 500,000 rhinos roamed the wild; today, fewer than 27,000 remain. Decades of relentless poaching drove Kenya’s rhino population to a historic low of just 400 in the 1980s and led to the functional extinction of the northern white rhino. Following the loss of Sudan, the world’s last male, only two females—Najin and Fatu remain.
Yet, Ol Pejeta has become a stronghold for recovery, now home to over 180 Eastern black rhinos. Your symbolic adoption helps provide the security, veterinary care, and pioneering science required to protect these survivors and ensure no more species are lost to history.
